HST Voters Guide

The HST Referendum is an important and historic decision for British Columbia.

In order to ensure B.C. Voters have a comprehensive understanding of the options which are:

  • vote YES to go back to the PST + GST sales tax
or
  • vote NO to retain the HST

The HST Referendum Voters Guide was developed to help you and will go to every household in British Columbia with a mailing address.

Stephen Owen, the Referendum Funding Decision Maker was responsible for coordinating and reviewing the submissions from the official sides of the Referendum: ‘Yes’ side - FightHST and ‘No’ side - Smart Tax Alliance.

The Independent Panel on the HST independently summarized its findings for submission to the Voters Guide.

The Government of B.C. wrote the opening statement and introduction page, while the Notice to B.C. Voters page was vetted and approved by Elections BC.
